Setting

the settings we chose for the horror film we places close by and what we thought that suited the scene. for the news report we had a plain room to try and make it look a little more realistic, smart and serious, just like the news these days. for the scene where liam was digging into the ground with the axe we wanted to have a feild with tree's to give a sense of isolation and alone, and because it is a staereotypical scene in most horror films. we also used the car as a setting when the tool box was in the boot, we used the car boot because we wanted to show the audience what was being put in the boot, and we thought the shot worked really well from him putting the tool box in the boot, and then the camera from inside the boot.

Props

The props we chose to use the film were two murder weapons; the pick axe and the mini axe. These axes connote violence. Due to these deaths being carried out with axes, they are brutal/violent deaths. We used a tool box to put the mini axe in so that no one knew what was inside, so that it can let the audience feel like they want to see more, it's to keep them interested, a sense of mystery. we used a white car for the muderer to flee away from the scene, to kae it seem even more real, instead of it looking like a teenage boy just walking off. Also we used a table in the news report because a stereotypical news report has a table infront of them where they put their stories on, and we used a blue blanket to put over some of the table so when we started editing we could put a scrolling bar at the bottom on it to make it look more realistic and similar to the news reports we see today.

certificate

the target audience age was at the age of 18, as the horror films had scenes of violence and graphic images, and we believed that it wouldnt of been suitable for people under that age of 18, as 18 year old are classed as adults. There is also some bad language throughout the film and that is not appropriate for people under the age of 18 to hear, along with that, during my horror research i found that other films similar to this horror film, are all only suitable for adults.

Group roles

for the group roles we decided to give each person roles that we thought would best suit us, and the sort of characteristics we have. Liam dawson was the director because he seemed to be the person that waas good with the final decision on each shot, each location and each cut, along with that he was the musical director because he seemed to have a good eye for a soundtrack that best suited the scene. Liam irons was the main actor because he seemed to be pretty confident with being that main person in the film, and was shown to not be camera shy. Me and kieron were both co-actors in our first draft, we played as two newsreportes, but once filmed found that we didnt believe we were best suited, so we used a teacher to play the role, who was Mrs bobbet. Kieron was laos the producer, because he seemed to be the person that came up with the idea's and he would share them just at the right time. Along with being a co-actor i was the mise-en-scene supervisor because i wanted it to be organised and wanted to make sure that everything was set up and that everyone had everything they needed before we started filming.

Sound and music

i got my soundtrack for my film a website called 'incomptech' - www.incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free
This website has a genre called horror so i thought this would be ideal and fits perfectly with the genre of my film. I used the sound track called 'Its behind you', because i feel this soundtrack is slow, eerie and gives off a sense of mystery which is exactly the feeling i am trying to put across in the film.

This website is also copyright free (royalty free) - http://incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free/about_copyright.html

^ This web address explains how this website can offer the music i use with out breaching the copyright law.

The sound/music i used is slow and tension building which on my research of the two films 'Hannibal' and 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' is what's used in those. So considering my plot links in slightly with both of these films i felt it would be effective and fit in with the film i created.

production logo

For our production logo we did some research on other leading production companies, throughout our research we found that the leading production companies are seen at the top of very well known places, this is to connote the quality and well known the production company is, so we thought we would try and make out own, and make it look like we are at the peak of big ben, which is the clock in london, which is a capital and well known by most places in the world.

The plot of my horror film Exhibit aXe is a mass murderer who is obssessed with axes because of his childhood. He wasn't educated in a school but learnt basic speaking and writing at home, this was because his father was a lumberjack and used different types of axes to chop his wood down. But one day whilst him and his father were out at work, his father was brutally murdered by one of his own axes as the main character stood there and watched. Now he is out for revenge and starts going on a killing spree until he finds the man who killed his father. His obssession with axes is because his father was killed infront of him with an axe. As you could see in the title sequence we have showed two different types of axes that are used to kill someone; a pick axe and a mini axe. My researched helped me with my plot as i took two aspects of my film from two seperate well knwon horror films. The revenge part is taken from 'Hannibal', as the story is similar but has its differences. As a result of this, the audience that liked that film are more likely to like my film idea. Also my second aspect is the idea about going round on a killing spree which is taken from 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'.
